Attaching a File to an Email

These instructions may be left open while performing this procedure.

  1. Open a New Message in Outlook Express.

  2. Select Attach (if it is on your toolbar menu) or Insert/File Attachment from the main menu.

  3. A new window will pop up. In the diagram below, the folder selected is My Documents. To the right is a folder with an up arrow. Clicking on this will take you up one level on your hard drive. Double clicking on a folder in the large white window will open up that folder.

    In order to find the file you want to attach, you will need to know the path to that file. Usually it is a file that you created on your own and you know where that file is kept. This is the path to the file selected in the diagram:

  4. Navigate to the folder where the file is located. Click on the file to attach it to the message. The file name will appear below. Click Attach. The small window will close and your New Message window will be behind so you can finish typing your message.
